IMPACT Communities provide citizens the ability to be part of the solution! By joining IMPACT, you can work with other concerned citizens to help reduce and prevent youth substance abuse and its consequences.

IMPACT Communities uses community prevention strategies to decrease substance use by limiting access to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and changing social norms that support youth substance abuse.

Community prevention strategies work to change policies, enhance law enforcement efforts, and educate the community on the legal and health consequences of substance use. The goal is to create a community environment that decreases the probability of youth substance use and abuse.

IMPACT Communities recognize that when citizens work together, they can

• Improve the community;
• Reduce violence and prevent crime;
• Help schools be more effective;
• Strengthen families; and
• Build a safe and drug-free community.
