IMPACT Community Coalitions

" The awareness created by IMPACT Ennis has resulted in much more community involvement. We’ve had more cooperation from people in the community reporting minors drinking and/or purchasing alcohol in the last four to five months than in the 12 years, I’ve been on the force "

– Ennis Police Chief John Erisman

Families and Communities

Community coalitions working collaboratively to reduce and prevent
youth substance abuse

Coalition Funding
The IMPACT Communities coalitions are funded through a number of state and federal grants and through public and private donations.

Community Coalition Program Grant
All five IMPACT Communities coalitions receive funding from the Community Coalition Program Grant awarded by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The grant provides funds to assist coalitions in reducing youth access to alcohol by following the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF), a research-based strategy approved by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Drug Free Communities Grant
IMPACT Corsicana receives funding from the Drug Free Communities Grant awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The grant provides resources for community coalitions to prevent and reduce the use of alcohol and other drugs by youth using environmental prevention strategies. Communities with DFC coalitions have been proven through research to have significantly lower substance use rates among high-school students than the national average.

Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant
IMPACT Grand Prairie, in partnership with the City of Grand Prairie, receives funding from the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant awarded by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The grant provides funds to help coalitions reduce binge drinking among 12 to 25-year-olds and intoxicated drivers involved in motor vehicle fatalities among 12 to 29-year-olds in Dallas County.
