Project SUCCESS (Schools Using Coordinated Community Efforts to Strengthen Students) reduces substance use among high-risk, multiproblem teen-agers in Dallas County Alternative Education Programs. The curriculum, presented in thirteen sessions, is delivered in an on-site classroom environment using videos, role-playing, group discussions and individual presentations.
Project SUCCESS teaches youth to cope in real-life situations by correcting false beliefs about substance use and improving communication, decision-making, problem-solving and stress and anger management skills.
Project SUCCESS is an evidence-based program recognized by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration. It is funded through a grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Project SUCCESS staff members include Felecia Myers and John Johnson.
