Too Good for Drugs is provided in the 9th grade and high school in Grand Prairie Independent School District and in the 9th grade at Cedar Hill Independent School District to reduce their intention to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. The in-classroom curriculum teaches youth in 14 sessions about the negative consequences of substance abuse and the benefits of a drug-free life.
Too Good for Drugs focuses on creating appropriate attitudes toward substance use as well as personal and interpersonal skills for dealing with substance use through role play, games, group activities, individual worksheets and class discussions. It also includes lessons on resolving conflicts, self-respect and choosing healthy relationships.
Too Good for Drugs is an evidence-based program recognized by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. It is funded through a grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
